### Pourquoi on en parle ?

Apprendre à coder, c’est-à-dire donner des instructions à un ordinateur, peut ouvrir la porte à plein de métiers. Mais souvent, les écoles d’informatique coûtent cher et demandent déjà des diplômes. L’école 42 a inventé un autre chemin : gratuit, ouvert à tous, dès 18 ans.


### Quel est le problème ?

Beaucoup de gens aimeraient travailler dans le numérique, mais n’ont ni les moyens ni le bon diplôme pour se former. En même temps, les entreprises cherchent des personnes qui savent coder. Comme le dit Chloé Berrettoni : « Le potentiel est partout, mais les opportunités ne sont pas partout. »


### Quelle est la solution ?

42 est un réseau d’écoles gratuites créé en 2013 à Paris. Aujourd’hui, il compte 56 campus dans le monde, dont 8 écoles en France, et plus de 25 000 personnes y ont déjà appris à coder. Le campus de Marseille a ouvert en 2025, près du Vieux-Port. Pour les adultes, aucun diplôme n’est demandé pour entrer. Seuls les candidats mineurs doivent avoir le bac.


### Qui agit ?

Chloé Berrettoni dirige 42 Marseille. Avant, elle a travaillé chez Google puis chez Meta (l’entreprise derrière Facebook, Instagram et WhatsApp), où elle aidait déjà des personnes à apprendre le numérique. Elle ne vient pas du monde de l’informatique à la base, mais d’une école de commerce.


### En pratique

À 42, il n’y a pas de cours ni de professeur. On apprend en faisant des projets, et en s’entraidant avec les autres élèves : quand on est bloqué, on demande à son voisin, et on corrige aussi le travail des autres. Le lieu où l’on travaille, appelé le « cluster », est ouvert jour et nuit, toute la semaine, pour que chacun puisse venir quand il veut.

Pour entrer à 42, il faut d’abord réussir une étape appelée la « Piscine » : quatre semaines pour découvrir les bases du code. À Marseille, dans la première promotion, plus de la moitié des élèves n’avaient jamais codé de leur vie, et il y avait des élèves de 18 à 57 ans !

Chloé Berrettoni compare l’intelligence artificielle aux calculatrices : « Quand les calculatrices sont arrivées, elles n’ont pas remplacé les mathématiciens, elles les ont équipées. » À 42, l’IA est intégrée à la formation dès le début, pas cachée ni interdite.


### Ce que tu peux faire

- Si tu connais un adulte qui cherche à se reconvertir ou qui aimerait apprendre à coder, tu peux lui parler de 42.
- Tu peux t’intéresser toi aussi au code, avec des jeux ou des sites adaptés à ton âge, si tu en as envie.
- Tu peux encourager les filles autour de toi à s’intéresser à l’informatique : à 42 Marseille, il n’y a que 22 % de filles parmi les élèves, et l’école aimerait que ça change.
